Overview
In hindsight, "Emergency food" is often used as a gag in some comedy where a small, living thing is used by a person or others to eat in case of an "emergency" at the victim's misfortune or annoyance. The victim can be also aware of the fact as an added joke. Sometimes they may try to escape as a side joke.
It's also known as "Eat the Dog" trope.
